Challenge #35

Don’t start this challenge until you complete Challenge #34

If you want to join the IntelliMen, start from Challenge #1

Challenge: Learn the truth about time and how to respect it.

Explanation: Let’s expand on what we started in Challenge #33 and explore the subject of time in greater depth. Reflect on what is written below:

Time bank

Imagine a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from one day to the next. Every evening, whatever part of the balance you failed to use that day is deleted.

What would you do? You would withdraw every cent, of course!

Yet, each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning we are credited with 86,400 seconds. Whatever part of that amount that we fail to invest is written off every night. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day’s deposit, the loss is yours. There’s no going back. There’s no drawing against “tomorrow.” You must live in the present, on today’s deposit. So invest it well and get the most health, happiness and success that you can! The clock is running. Make the most of today.

The value of time

To understand the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.

To understand the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.

To understand the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.

To understand the value of ONE DAY, ask Jack Bauer.

To understand the value of ONE HOUR, ask two people in love who are waiting to meet up.

To understand the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.

To understand the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.

To understand the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Remember that time waits for no one. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present!

Set aside 40 minutes of your time to watch this video, and block out any and all distractions and interruptions.

Notebook: Write down ideas, phrases or thoughts that helped you. Write down any decision you took with regards to your time (things you need to work on) as a result of what you learned.

Official Partner: Speak to your partner about what you learned.

Deadline: You may begin working on this challenge immediately and complete it before you begin Challenge #36 in a week.

Post: After – and only after – you have completed the challenge, post your comments on the IntelliMenWorld Facebook or Twitter page, (not on your own page) and write the following:

IntelliMen Challenge #35 done: I will never look at time in the same way again. (Add any other comment you want.)

Phrase:

If a man has money, it is usually a sign, too, that he knows how to take care of it; don’t imagine his money is easy to get simply because he has plenty of it.  – Edgar Watson Howe

With money in your pocket, you are wise, and you are handsome, and you sing well too. – Jewish proverb
